Welcome To Memphis Board of Directors
Glen Thomas was introduced to the world of hospitality when he was hired by the Airport Authority in 2013. Before that, he worked at MLGW for more than 14 years, gaining valuable experience in media relations, crisis communications, marketing, and community relations. During that time, Glen also developed positive relationships with local media that he was able to bring with him to the airport.

What do you find most rewarding about your job?
It’s great to be a part of something that involves promoting our city and highlighting all the wonderful things about it. The airport is able to work in concert with other hospitality entities to tell a larger positive story about our city.
What do you find most rewarding about being a leader in the Memphis hospitality industry?
I get to be an ambassador for our city and community; that’s both a reward and a responsibility.
Why does the Welcome to Memphis mission resonate with you?
I think the Welcome to Memphis mission is crucial to our city’s image. The people that make up our hospitality industry can have a lasting, enduring impact on how our visitors view our city and how they remember it. It’s essential that we train, encourage, and recognize these employees regularly.
What do you think the future holds for Welcome to Memphis?
I think the future is one of promise for the organization. More importantly, I believe that Welcome to Memphis will continue to find new ways to elevate our hospitality industry and its employees.
When you have visitors to Memphis, what are three places you always take them?
Central BBQ, Memphis Redbirds, and one of our many great breweries!
What advice would you give to someone who is new to the hospitality industry?
One of the most important things you can provide your customers is your undivided attention.
